Mintos take on Wildcats in third game of U18 AAA season
The Prince Albert Mintos (1-1) will look to get back in the win column in Saskatchewan U18 AAA Hockey Wednesday evening, but that will likely prove to be difficult.
They will take on the Warman Wildcats, one of three undefeated teams in the league at 2-0 at 7 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre. The Wildcats were also a league-best 5-0-1 in the preseason. That included a pair of wins over the Mintos, 9-3 at the Art Hauser Centre on Sept. 18 and 8-4 at the Legends Centre in Warman on Sept. 19.
The Prince Albert Mintos themselves started off the regular season on a huge high with a 7-2 blowout victory over the Swift Current Legionnaires on Saturday at the Art Hauser Centre. After falling behind 4-1 to the Regina Pat Canadians on Saturday, the Mintos’ comeback effort fell short as they lost 5-3 to an empty net goal.
The Mintos have had some great individual contributions thus far. Jacob Cossette has five assists through two games, which leads the league. He’s also tied for the league lead in points. Captain Rhett Ravndahl is tied for second with four assists.
