Fuel up and fundraise for Creative Kids Saskatchewan

Anyone going out this evening and are thinking about fueling up on gas should maybe wait for tomorrow.

Sept. 21 is Lake Country Co-op’s annual ‘Fuel Good Day’. All funds raised will go towards Creative Kids Saskatchewan.

Three Co-op gas station locations in Prince Albert will be taking part. You can contribute to the fundraiser at the Co-op Gas Bar on Marquis road, just off Highway 3. At the Co-op location at Cornerstone, on 15th Street East and at their location on Second Avenue West.

Co-op will donate 10 cents for every liter of fuel that is sold and will donate $1.00 for every Co-operative coffee or big cool purchased in store.

“Creative Kids is an organization through Sask Culture,” Judy MacLeod-Campbell, Creative Kids Saskatchewan committee member told paNOW. “It enables kids to participate in arts and culture programming who may not otherwise get that opportunity.

“There is an application process and then funding support is provided for youth to participate in things like dance, music lessons, and art classes.”

This is the first year that Creative Kids is partnering with Co-op locations in Prince Albert for the fundraiser.

“That’s very exciting for us,” MacLeod-Campbell said.

Since becoming a non-profit organization in 2010, Creative Kids has been able to help more than 750 kids in Prince Albert and area to get involved in arts and culture.

“We fund kids up to a maximum of $750 per year. This will allow us to support more children,” MacLeod-Campbell said. “We aren’t able to meet all of the applications we receive. So, the more we raise, the more we can get kids into activities.”

Co-op locations in Air Ronge, La Ronge, Kinistino, Big River, and Nipawin will also be participating in the fundraiser.

Last year, Co-op fundraised for the Big Brothers Big Sisters charity, and were able to raise over $8,000.
