472 new COVID-19 cases, 223 total hospitalizations

The Government of Saskatchewan reported 472 new COVID-19 cases in Friday’s update.

Out of the new cases, 383 were unvaccinated cases. Of children 12 years old and under who are not yet eligible to get the vaccine, 91 new cases were reported.

Of the new cases, 60 are in the North West zone, 27 in North Central, 23 in North East, 16 in Far North West, 26 in Far North East, and none in Far North Central.

There are now 223 people in hospital with COVID, four in the Far North West (all inpatients), 34 in North West (29 inpatients, three in ICU), 28 in North Central (22 inpatients, six in ICU), and five in North East (all inpatients).

NITHA Data

There are 40 new cases to report Friday in NITHA communities. 30 (75 per cent) were unvaccinated, two (five per cent) are partially vaccinated and eight (20 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 406 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are found in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 17; Far North West, 44; Far North East, 229; North Central, 63; and North East, 53; 5127 cases (92 per cent) have recovered, and 13 people are being hospitalized.

There are 28 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; one, Far North West, 10; and Far North East, six; North Central, seven; and North East, four.

Athabasca Health Authority (AHA)

With no new cases or recoveries reported on Sept. 16, the active case count in the Athabasca Health Authority remains at 14.

Since the pandemic began, AHA has reported there has been 492 total cases of COVID-19.
