Six Prince Albert Raiders are off to NHL training camps and rookie tournaments this year

This list includes defencemen Kaiden Guhle, Nolan Allan, and Landon Kosior, forwards Ozzy Wiesblatt and Reece Vitelli, and goaltender Carter Serhyenko.

Guhle (Montreal Canadiens, 2020), Allan (Chicago Blackhawks, 2021) and Wiesblatt (San Jose Sharks, 2020) are all first-round draft choices.

From a Raiders’ perspective, Kaiden Guhle may be the player most likely to stay with their camp. After Guhle won a silver medal with Team Canada at the World Junior Championships, Guhle was drafted 16th overall by the Canadiens in 2020. Despite just playing in two Raider games due to injury in the hub season last year, Guhle could make the jump in his 19-year-old season.

Ozzy Wiesblatt is in his second preseason as a signed Shark prospect, after being selected by the Sharks to wrap up the first round of the 2020 draft. Wiesblatt has already been in San Jose this summer to train for the upcoming season with the team’s development camp and upcoming rookie tournament.

Nolan Allan was recently drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks on July 23 this year, as the Blackhawks snatched up Allan with the final pick of the first round. Allan had a goal and an assist in seven tournament games for Team Canada to help them to a gold medal at the Under-18 World championships.

Landon Kosior is returning to the Los Angeles Kings this preseason to play with the 2021 Rookie Faceoff tournament. The blueliner from Regina was invited to Los Angeles’ rookie camp in August and was invited back for the tournament.

Carter Serhyenko is getting his first taste of a NHL camp when he heads to Calgary for the Flames’ prospect camp. The netminder from Saskatoon posted a 2-5-2-1 record with a 3.99 goals-against average and a 0.858 save percentage in the Hub Centre this past season.

Reece Vitelli was invited to development camp with the Arizona Coyotes, which is currently underway. The Winnipeg product put up a career-best 0.92 points per game in the Hub Centre last season, scoring seven goals and adding 15 assists while playing in all 24 games.
