UPDATE: Late Sunday afternoon, the Prince Albert Catholic School Division reported three additional COVID-19 cases had been confirmed at three schools – École St. Mary High School, St. Francis School, and École St. Anne School.

The Prince Albert Catholic School Division (PACSD) is encouraging everyone to protect themselves and youth as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the community and province.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) identified five positive COVID-19 cases in individuals at four schools – École St. Mary High School, St. John Community School, St. Catherine Catholic School and earlier this week at École Holy Cross.

Director Lorel Trumier said in a press release that the cases are not likely school acquisitions due to the recent start of school, but with the rise in cases and state of vaccination rates, PACSD remains committed to informing the school community and broader community about cases and exposures.

“We all have a shared responsibility to decrease the risk of COVID-19 entering schools.

“Consider all the layers of protection such as performing daily health screening, staying home if ill, calling HealthLine 811 if exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, practicing proper hand hygiene, maintaining physical distancing, and wearing a mask when appropriate. Vaccination clinic dates and times are available in the community via pharmacies and pop-up clinics.”

All schools will continue to operate in-person classes while maintaining current safety protocols. Additionally, the students and families will be receiving updates using the Edsby platform.
