RED DEER, Alta. — The Alberta Wheat Commission (AWC) is seeking nominations from wheat farmers for new board directors and regional representatives.

Open positions include two directors and three regional reps for Region 3, which consists of central Alberta, including Lacombe and surrounding counties, as well as Red Deer and Clearwater County.

There is also one director position open for Region 2 (south-central Alberta, Calgary), and one director-at-large post for every region. Terms are three years.

“Farmer representation is fundamental for AWC and I encourage farmers from across the province, young and experienced, to get involved by bringing your knowledge and ideas to the table,” says Todd Hames, AWC chair.

“Through AWC, farmers have the opportunity to contribute to research, market access and development, agriculture policy, grower extension, among other key areas.”
