A local business that recently closed its doors, Houle Furniture made a large donation of furniture and art to the Rose Garden Hospice.

The items donated were remaining inventory at the store and adds up to $26,000.

Some of the items were sold at the Rose Garden Hospice garage sale last weekend, where they were able to raise just under $4,000. They are also planning to hold an art auction, but do not know the date for it yet.

“We wrapped up our business in Prince Albert,” Marty Houle, owner of the store told paNOW. “We gave our remaining inventory to the hospice. It’ll be a great place for it to go.

“There will be plenty of beautiful pictures in the building, and there was a number of items they put towards their garage sale to raise some cash. We are just very happy to be a part of it.”

Marina Mitchell, a board member of the hospice appreciates the local donation.

“Houle Furniture has been a great supporter of us. They fitted our office in the Gateway Mall with furniture as well,” Mitchell said. “It’s great to have them involved.”

She added the items will not just be in the patients rooms, but will be featured throughout the building.

“The paintings will be used throughout the hospice. They’ll be in rooms, the family room, the kitchen, wherever we see fit,” Mitchell explained.

The Rose Garden Hospice is currently at $2.9 million of their $4.4 million fundraising goal.

Construction of the hospice began last month. Miller Contracting, who is building the facility estimates it could be done in 12-14 months.

The Rose Garden Hospice Association is still accepting online donations. Donations can be made on their website or Facebook page.
