Province reports another triple-digit day of new COVID-19 cases

Another 158 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported by the provincial government Thursday. This brings the total to 53,004 reported cases; 1,602 cases are considered active and 50,808 cases are considered recovered.

In the six northern zones of the province, there are 762 active cases, including 84 new cases reported today; Far North West (six), Far North Central (one), Far North East (14), North West (17), North Central (31), North East (15).

Two new deaths were reported bringing the provincial death total to 594 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died. This means a case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

Almost two-fifths (36.7 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.

Just over one-sixth (17.7 per cent) of new cases were fully vaccinated.

NITHA Data

As of Aug. 25, there are 249 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 18; Far North West, 74; Far North East, 125; North Central, 31; and North East, one.

There are 118 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; four, Far North West, 33; and Far North East, 56; North Central, 25; and North East, 0.

There has been 4318 cases (96 per cent) that have recovered, and 10 people are hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

The Athabasca Health Authority reported another two new cases and two new recoveries on Aug. 25. However, due to two cases in the Black Lake long term care facility being deemed as false positives, the active case count now sits at 12 and 95 positive cases since June 23, 2021.
