MELFORT, Sask. — G3 Canada has opened two new high efficiency grain elevators on the prairies.

G3 Vermilion, Alta. and G3 Swift Current, Sask. are now fully operational.

CEO Don Chapman said both facilities can unload a Super-B truck in less than five minutes, have 42,000 tonnes of capacity and railway loop tracks for efficient loading of 150-car unit trains.

“We’re pleased to be part of these great agricultural communities and look forward to earning the business of farmers who see the value in fast, efficient service,” Chapman said in a news release.

Both new elevators are positioned to ship grain by rail to G3 Terminal Vancouver with access to markets around the world.

The nomination period for director positions with five Saskatchewan crop commissions will close next week.

SaskBarley, Sask Wheat, Sask Pulse Growers, Sask Mustard and Saskatchewan Winter Cereals are all looking to fill board vacancies.

SaskBarley needs to fill three positions, while Sask Wheat is looking for four directors.

Sask. Pulse Growers is hoping to find three individuals. Sask Mustard has one position open while Winter Cereals has three openings at its board table.

Nomination forms can be found on each commissions’ website.

The deadline for all five groups is Sept. 3.

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) has found its new chief executive officer

Larry Kaumeyer grew up on a cattle farm outside of Calgary, Alta., where his passion for nature and the outdoors first began.

He has held leadership roles in the energy and financial sectors while volunteering with conservation-based non-profit organizations.

He is currently a senior strategic advisor for the Alberta government.

Kaumeyer said he is committed to the environment.

“This is a critical moment in our collective effort to mitigate climate change and protect our natural resources and wildlife habitats,” Kaumeyer said. “I am proud and humbled to lead the Ducks Unlimited Canada team and collaborate with our partners across industries and sectors to create positive outcomes for our natural spaces — and our communities that depend on them.”

Kaumeyer will be joining DUC on Oct. 4. Current CEO Karla Guyn will remain in the role during the transition until her retirement at the end of that month.
