219 new COVID-19 cases reported in the province

Saskatchewan reported 219 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, marking the second time this week that cases eclipsed the 200 case mark.

That gives the province 1,162 new cases this week, the highest weekly total since the week starting on May 10.

Of the 219 new cases, 21 are in North Central, 20 in North East, 15 in North West, four in Far North West, three in Far North East and two in Far North Central. In the big urban centres, there are 50 new cases in Saskatoon and 47 in Regina.

There are 94 hospitalizations currently in the province, an increase of five from Saturday’s report.

There are 178 active cases of COVID-19 in Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority communities.
These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 21; Far North West, 63; Far North East, 73; North Central, 20; and North East, one; 4,268 cases (95 per cent) have recovered, and six people are hospitalized.

There are 64 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; 10, Far North West, 17; and Far North East, 23; North Central, 14; and North East, zero.
