Lakeland Ford Street Fair raising money for STARS

Bouncy castles, barbeques, firetrucks, sweet rides, and three Prince Albert Raiders in a dunk tank—the Lakeland Ford Street Fair pulled out all the stops on Saturday to raise money for the STARS’ Pegasus Project.

STARS is looking to raise money for three new H145 helicopters to renew their lifesaving fleet. Tammy Beauregard, STARS donor relations development officer, says events like the street fair will go a long way to raising the goal.

“It’s absolutely amazing to see the community coming together,” Beauregard said. “It’s great to see people out again and it’s great to have fun. We always say STARS was built for the community, by the community. You’re seeing that here today.”

As part of the Pegasus Project, there is a roadshow for the one-of-a-kind 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe that will visit Prairie Ford dealers across Saskatchewan. The car will be auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Arizona in Jan. 2022 and the funds raised will go towards the project.

Beauregard said STARS is also selling other merchandise items like hats, t-shirts, and copies of Kaleb Dahlgren’s book “Crossroads” to fundraise for the cause.

Scott Newsom, managing partner at Lakeland Ford, said he had free rein on what the event would look like when the Pegasus Project’s roadshow visited his lot. They decided on a street fair to have families be able to come together and enjoy the day while helping a good cause.

“They gave us an opportunity to do whatever we wanted, so this is a good way to involve the community, get families out and get the kids out and have a good day and a good time.

When asked which event he would want to participate in the most if he was a young participant, Newsom said he would be at the dunk tank. Three Raiders rookies in Terrell Goldsmith, Dallyn Peekeekoot, and Tre Fouquette were brave enough to man the dunk tank and repeatedly get dropped into the big bucket of water.
