Ring wins Senior Men’s Northern championship

Prince Albert’s Martin Ring won his second Senior Northern championship at Cooke Municipal Golf Course on Thursday.

Ring beat the field by at least two strokes with Rick Hallberg ending up as the runner up.

Ring shot 140 through the two days, including a tournament-best 69 to open the tournament. Hallberg shot a 71 and 73 to come in second at 144. Garry Hagen was third with a 70, 76.

Ring is now eligible to play in the Canadian Senior Men’s Championship Sept. 21–24 in Quebec.

Jim Scissons won the Championship Flight in the Super Senior division. Scissons shot a two-day total of 158, six shots over John Batiuk, Glen Pryor and Harvey Braitenbach — all of whom shot 164.
