Province reports 190 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday

COVID-19 cases continue to climb in Saskatchewan.

The province reported 190 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, which is the most one-day total of cases reported since May 15 (199). Just 22 cases were reported 30 days ago on July 18.

There are 58 new cases in the North zones (10 in the North West, 14 in North Central and 34 in the North East). There are also 32 cases reported in the Far North zones (26 in the Far North West, six in the Far North East). Saskatoon reported 40 cases while Regina had 14.

NITHA numbers

There are 161 active cases of COVID-19 in Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority communities as of Aug. 18.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 20; Far North West, 59; Far North East, 69; North Central, 12; and North East, one; 4,215 cases (96 per cent) have recovered, and four people are being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

No new cases were reported today by the Athabasca Health Authority (AHA).

During the recent outbreak in Black Lake, AHA has reported that 91 per cent of positive COVID cases between mid-July and mid-August were in individuals who had not received a vaccination, five per cent were fully-vaccinated and four per cent were partially vaccinated. This was out of 75 positive cases.
