The Prince Albert Fire Department responded in the early hours.

They were on scene around 3:50 a.m. and were there until 9 a.m.

“Crews were called to a structure fire at a multi-unit building,” Fire Chief Kris Olsen told paNOW. “As crews arrived there was visible smoke and flames of a substantial nature.”

He said the fire got into the roof structure of the building but crews were able to prevent the spread of the fire to other units.

“Primary and secondary searches have been completed, the scene is stable at this time,” Olsen said. “It is undergoing fire investigation for cause and origin.”

He said when they first arrived, and with the assistance of the city police, they were able to get everyone safely out of the building.
