The lengths people will to go to get the scoop.

A Leroy, Sask. man caused quite the stir when he landed his helicopter to grab an ice cream from the Tisdale Dairy Queen, but not everyone is happy about his adventurous cravings.

Saskatchewan RCMP said the 34-year-old pilot landed his chopper on July 31, around 5 p.m.

Tisdale RCMP received a complaint that the helicopter had landed in a high traffic parking lot on 101st Street. When it landed, the helicopter blew up dust and debris through the area, which includes schools, an aquatic centre and more.

The investigation determined the landing was not an emergency. A passenger of the helicopter got out and entered the nearby restaurant to buy an ice cream cake.

The pilot was licensed to fly the chopper, but it was illegal to land it where he did.

He’s been charged with one count of dangerous operation of an aircraft and is set to appear in Melfort court on Sept. 7.

paNOW/northeastNOW made contact with the pilot who said he would not be commenting until he’s discussed matters with his lawyer.
