Prince Albert police investigate shooting

A 42-year-old man was transported to hospital Sunday night following a shooting in Prince Albert’s West Flat neighbourhood.

Shortly after 7 p.m., Parkland Ambulance Paramedics responded to a reported assault in the 600 block of 13th Street West. The patient was then transported to hospital with serious injuries but was listed in stable condition.

The Prince Albert Police Service confirmed the victim was shot in the leg, and that the investigation is ongoing.

In addition to Sunday night’s shooting incident, police have also released details about two break-and-enters, and an armed robbery.

Early Monday morning, police were alerted to a business in the 1200 Block of Branion Drive. Police Service Dog (PSD) Ares was deployed in the area just before 2 a.m., and located a male suspect nearby.

A 20-year-old man from Prince Albert was arrested and is charged with break-and-enter and breach of court-ordered release condition.

The second break-and-enter took place Monday night at a business in the 200 Block of 15th St. E. A 24-year-old Prince Albert man was arrested at the scene.

Police are also investigating an incident in which a man reported he was robbed at gunpoint late Sunday evening in the 2600 Block of Central Ave. The victim reported that two men assaulted him and stole cigarettes before fleeing the area.
