Fire damages playground at École Vickers Public School

A fire behind École Vickers Public School Wednesday evening, resulted in extensive damage to the playground structure but there are no reports of any injuries.

At 5:45 p.m., the Prince Albert Fire Department responded to the school playground, for a report of wood chips on fire.

On arrival crews discovered a fire in the play structure and surrounding wood chips. Firefighters then quickly extinguished the fire.

The cause is currently under investigation.

Robert Bratvold, Director of Education for the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division, issued a statement to the media early Wednesday evening.

“SRPSD is appreciative of the quick and skillful response from the fire department and thankful that there are no reports of injuries at this time,” he said.
