Viterra matches Food Banks of Saskatchewan fundraiser

Jul 19, 2021 | 10:00 AM

Viterra’s Grow Your Donation campaign last month saw all financial donations to the Food Banks of Saskatchewan matched up to $100,000.

With $150,000 donated across the province, the total donation came to be $250,000.

The donation will be used to purchase and distribute safe and nutritious food, as well as deliver education programs and services.

“Food Banks of Saskatchewan wishes to thank Viterra for their leadership, strong support, and partnership,” Laurie O’Connor, Executive Director of Food Banks of Saskatchewan said in a media release. “Thank you to all donors who gave so generously last month, knowing that their donation would be doubled by Viterra.”

Due to the campaign, the 36 food banks across the province are well set up going into the summer. Many families turn to the food banks during the summer to fill the gap when school nutrition programs are not running and higher expenses for items such as school supplies and sports fees are due as the new school year approaches.

“Viterra is proud to support the Food Banks of Saskatchewan and we are thankful to all of the generous individuals across our province that stepped up to meet this challenge,” Kyle Jeworski, CEO of Viterra North America said in the release. “At Viterra, we help farmers feed the world, but we feel it’s just as important to help feed people in our communities. By teaming up with organizations like the Food Banks of Saskatchewan, we’re able to have a greater impact in supporting those in need.”

Donors from 33 different communities participated in the campaign.
