James Smith Cree Nation receives donation of jack pine seedlings
Paper Excellence has made a substantial donation of tree seedlings to the James Smith Cree Nation.
The pulp and paper company out of B.C. has donated 9,000 jack pine seedlings to the James Smith Cree Nation. The jack pine is native to Saskatchewan and produces excellent habitats for plants and animals.
“We appreciate Paper Excellence making this donation,” said Ron Burns, Director of Forest Management for James Smith Cree Nation in a release. “Nine thousand seedlings is significant and over the coming decades we’ll see a new forest emerge on our reserve.”
The seedlings will be planted this year.
