MELFORT, Sask. – The Senate has passed a private member’s bill addressing to cost to transfer a farm to a family member.
The Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) President Mary Robinson said the changes will assist Canadian farmers, fishers and small businesses in turning over their enterprises to the next generation.
She said with more than 95 per cent of the country’s farms owned and operated by Canadian farm families, the bill will contribute directly to the sustainability of thousands of family farms in the next few years alone.
