Lakeland Ford getting in the game for kids at Victoria Hospital

Kids visiting the Victoria Hospital’s pediatrics ward will have a chance for some playtime during their stay thanks to Lakeland Ford.

The local dealership made a donation of two self contained gaming systems for the ward, according to a recent media release from the Victoria Hospital Foundation.

Kids can now enjoy games on either a Nintendo Switch or Xbox One which will arrive fully loaded with the latest popular games for the patients. The systems will be fully sanitized and will have no game cartridges to misplace.

The foundation is grateful for the donation, said foundation CEO Sherry Buckler, in the release, as well as Lakeland’s donation of new wall mounted smartTVs for every patients room on the pediatric floor.

“Our busy hospital has an even busier pediatric ward that cares for sick children ranging in age from infants to 17 years old. Most often, sick or infectious children must remain in isolation in their rooms while they recover,” Buckler said.

The donation will, “provide the children in our pediatrics ward with a much needed and fun distraction to lift their spirits as they get better.”

This donation shows Lakeland’s committment to healthcare in Prince Albert and northern Saskatchewan, said Scott Newsom, managing partner for Lakeland Ford.

“Providing this unique donation to the Victoria Hospital is our way to help children and families at a time when they need it most—making a hospital stay just a little bit better,” he said. “We’re extremely pleased to offer this support to our community and especially to our kids.”
