Bus parade shows appreciation for staff

Jun 18, 2021 | 2:05 PM

First Student Bus drivers and staff held a school bus parade Friday morning to show their appreciation for Prince Albert Catholic School (PACSD) staff and teachers.

A sea of yellow could be seen this morning at 9 a.m. as the buses drove past all the schools within the division.

The procession drove by École St Anne School, St Catherine Catholic School, St. Francis School, St. Michael school, École Holy Cross, St John School, and ended at École St. Mary High School.

The division said in a media release the parade was a great way to end the school year.

“The PACSD is proud of all the teachers and staff for their efforts this year. The parade organized by First Student Bus Drivers is a humbling gesture and is appreciated,” it said.

Kathy Gaudet, Principal of Ecole’ St. Anne School, said how much they enjoyed watching the parade of yellow, giving them a real boost.

“Oh, it was just wonderful. It was just a wonderful start to the day,” she told paNOW.

The children also enjoyed the parade.

“Our students lined up along 24th Street and they cheered. Our staff were out there cheering right along with them as the bus drivers drove by honking their horn,” Gaudet said.

“It was just so marvelous. It was cute to hear the little ones call out to their bus drivers by name saying ‘hey, that’s my bus driver’, so just great,” she said.

Gaudet said the bus drivers initiated the parade themselves. They wanted to thank the students and staff and acknowledge them for all their hard work this year.

Staff and students at École St. Mary School were however, not able to enjoy the procession because of the continued closure following the recent fire and power outage caused by Wednesdays powerful storm in Prince Albert.
