On a very hot Monday afternoon The Rotary Club of Prince Albert was awarded a large donation from Lake Country Co-op to support their Rotary Adventure Park project.

At the site of the upcoming adventure park, Lake Country Co-op donated $100,000 through the Co-op Community Spaces program.

The park will be a great addition to one of the largest urban parks in Canada, Keith Fonstad, President of the Rotary Club said in a news release.

“The Rotary Adventure Park will provide opportunities for all members of the city, surrounding communities and visitors to have an unparalleled outdoor experience at the Little Red River Park. This project fits within the ideals of Rotary to promote goodwill, peace and a focus on community development and healthy youth.”

At the event, Keith Fonstad was also very thankful for the donation and excited for building to get started.

“This gets us that much closer to getting shovels in the ground for next spring when we will be ready to go,” Fonstad said.

Tim Keller, CEO of Lake Country Co-op also explained in the release how grateful they are for the partnership.

“The last 15 months have been very challenging and it’s such an honour for our Co-op to contribute to creating a space for residents to safely come back together.

“Investing in our community is central to our values as a Co-op. Partnering with community groups on important projects like this is a natural fit. We are creating beautiful spaces for our community to enjoy now and for years to come.”

Prince Albert Mayor Greg Dionne was also at the donation and is excited about the growth of the park.

“Little Red is one of our jewels. It will be highlighted off when the bridge is built over there [at the park site]. You won’t have to walk as far, and there will be parking as well,” Dionne said.

This donation now puts the project at $200,000 of the $800,000 target for the park to be built in the spring of 2022.
