After a narrow defeat and a rained-out tie to the Unity Cardinals, the Prince Albert Royals roared back to Andy Zwack Field and responded with a pair of wins over the Lloydminster Twins.

The Royals beat the Twins 7-4 and 15-5 to move up to fourth place in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League AA standings with a 2-1-1 record.

Royals’ big bat Jack Mortimer took the weekend over at the plate. In both games combined, Mortimer hit an inside-the-park home run and three triples to lead his team to victory. He was also 4-7 with seven runs batted in and five runs scored himself.

Ben Lefebvre was solid on the mound for the first game, going 5.2 innings, while striking out eight and surrendering four earned runs. Josh LaClaire cleaned up the final 1.1 innings of no-hit, scoreless baseball.

Dawson Paterson pitched all six innings in the second game, scattering six hits and giving up four earned runs. The game ended with a mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Mortimer triple that struck the fence on the fly.

The Royals will take on the North Battleford Beavers on Saturday for a two-game set at Andy Zwack Field— with games scheduled for 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
