Paper Excellence is showing their appreciation to those who fought the Cloverdale blaze last month.

In a presentation on Thursday, they donated $10,000 to Buckland Fire and Rescue for their response to the fire.

Paper Excellence would like to thank all agencies involved in extinguishing the Cloverdale fire and protecting Prince Albert Pulp Inc. from potentially catastrophic fire damage.

“We know many people came together to fight the blaze and protect not only our mill, but homes and other businesses; the City of Prince Albert Fire Department, Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, Buckland Fire and Rescue, Garden River Fire Department, and all others that volunteered and lent a hand working on the fire,” site manager of Prince Albert Pulp Inc, Kelvin Winge said.

“We can’t thank everyone personally, so we hope this donation of $10,000 to the Buckland Fire and Rescue will make a difference to the whole community.”

Kelvin Winge also mentioned ongoing plans at Paper Excellence.

“I’m continuing to work with the Prince Albert Fire Department to manage the ongoing impacts of the fire on the mill site. I’m grateful for all the work and support they are providing to us,” Winge said. “Paper Excellence is in the process of restarting the Prince Albert mill which is located within the City of Prince Albert limits with a portion of the site located in the Rural Municipality of Buckland.

Fire Chief of Buckland Fire and Rescue, Garry Schrader explained why this donation is important to them.

“I thank Paper Excellence for this generous donation,” Schrader said. “The average cost of a fire call can range from $5,000 to more than $50,000, so this donation makes a meaningful impact to our bottom line.”
