Pearce’s defence and Allan’s studying earn them Raider team awards

The Prince Albert Raiders named two more players to their list of 2020-21 Year-End Award winners on Wednesday.

Raider veteran Eric Pearce won the Best Defensive Forward Award, while Nolan Allan was named as the Belle Merrell & Calla Grasley Award as Scholastic Player of the Year.

Pearce led the Raiders with a plus-13 rating, and won 54 per cent of faceoffs while setting career highs with seven goals, nine assists and 16 points. Pearce was also a big part of the Raiders’ penalty kill.

Allan earned a 90 per cent average in both semesters this year, taking Accounting, Pre-Calculus, English Language Arts and Biology in the first, and a second English Language Arts class, Canadian Studies, and Psychology in the second.

The Davidson, Sask. product suited up in 16 games for the Raiders in the Subway Hub Centre before departing to represent Canada at the U18 World Hockey Championship in Texas. Allan had a goal and an assist for the Raiders. At the World Championships, he had a goal and an assist in seven games as he helped Canada win the gold medal.

Allan is eligible for the 2021 NHL Draft, earning a “B” rating from NHL Central Scouting which indicates a potential second-or-third-round draft pick.
