City of P.A. implements fire ban at Little Red River Park and areas north of the river

May 7, 2021 | 3:03 PM

The City of Prince Albert have announced a fire ban at Little Red River Park and for properties north of the North Saskatchewan River.

According to a media release, the fire ban was announced due to an extreme conditions rating by the Fire Weather Index for the grasslands and the forest fringe area. The areas north of the North Saskatchewan River such as the Little Red River Park and the Nordale and Hazeldell residential areas will be affected by the ban until the extreme risk condtions are over.

Those who live at or are visiting the listed areas will not be allowed to have open fires, or use fireworks. Self-contained heating devices, propane fire pits, gas barbecues and charcoal briquettes used in park-provided fire pits and barbecues are allowed.

P.A. residents within the city and south of the river who use approved fire pits will not be affected by the ban.
