Parks Canada conducting prescribed burn in P.A. National Park

Apr 21, 2021 | 5:12 PM

No need for alarm if local residents notice smoke coming from the south west corner of Prince Albert National Park.

Parks Canada is currently conducting a prescribed fire at the park with potentially 80 hectares being burned for restoration purposes.

“The Paskwâw-Mostos prescribed fire plays a key role in multi-year restoration projects to rejuvenate forested areas, expand and restore grasslands and increase bison habitat,” stated Parks Canada in the media release.

Following the burn, the area will be monitored and any fire suppression work will be done until the fire is extinguished.
