A young woman, charged with manslaughter in the death of her ex-boyfriend, has entered a plea of not guilty.

Lynessa Highway, 18, was not present when the case was discussed Thursday afternoon at Prince Albert Provincial Court. The trial date was scheduled for Dec. 6, 2021.

In the early morning hours of Oct. 10, 2020, 18-year-old Adam Pelletier was shot and killed at a residence in the 1700 block of 14th St. W.

Expressing relief to see the court case moving ahead, Pelletier’s mother April Roberts told paNOW her son only needed two credits to graduate.

“He was a very loving, outgoing young man who was full of love and life. He never hurt no one and always made sure his family was okay,” she said.

Roberts confirmed her son and Highway dated a number of years ago, but were not together at the time of the incident.

“I wish I knew how to feel but I am numb. I’m so lost without him. He was mommy’s boy,” Roberts said.

Roberts has created a gofundme to help pay for the costs of a proper headstone.
