Reservations at P.A. National Park starting April 14

Mar 27, 2021 | 10:00 AM

Every Saskatchewan camper should have April 14 at 8 a.m. marked on their calendars.

That’s when reservations for the Prince Albert National Park will open.

Those with a reservation will be able to start staying at the campgrounds when they open; from May 21 for the May Long weekend until Oct. 11. Available for reservations are Beaver Glen and Red Deer, the other campgrounds will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Jeff Wasylyk, Visitor Services team leader at Prince Albert National Park, encourages those interested to make their reservations as quickly after April 14 as possible, as he is anticipating the bookings to fill up quickly.

“I think with how long COVID has dragged on, I think people are just looking to get out,” Wasylyk said. “We have a lot of activities up here that you can do socially distanced and be safe, including hiking, biking, swimming, boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, stand-up paddleboarding, wildlife viewing. I think it’s really important that people are able to get out and enjoy these things.”

Reservations for the Grasslands National Park will also start on April 14. The Frenchman Valley Campground, West Block backcountry camping, and the Rock Creek Campground will be open to those with a reservation.

Reservations can be made online here or over the phone at 1-877-737-3783.

While on the campgrounds, similar safety protocols will be in place from last year. Masks must be worn when in a public building, like a visitor’s centre, washroom, restaurant, or store. Indoor and outdoor gatherings must not exceed the limits the province has implemented. The oTENTik cabins will not be available this season at Prince Albert National Park.
