P.A.’s digital billboard to feature local inspirational youth

Prince Albert’s prominent digital billboard will be used to highlight inspirational young people in the community.

The initiative is being spearheaded by Community Building Youth Futures Prince Albert (CBYF PA). The program, which operates out of the Bernice Sayese Centre, held a soft opening earlier this month.

On Monday a delegation from CBYF PA presented plans for a series of “Youth Features” to city council.

“The feature highlights a youth from our community who has shown resilience, leadership or commitment to community,” Tallon Halsall, a Grade 11 student at St. Mary’s High School and a youth representative with CBYF, told councillors.

The goal is to foster a sense of connection between youth and community, celebrate the gifts youth contribute and promote a positive view of both youth and Prince Albert, she continued.

Along with being spotlit on the ten-foot tall, double-sided digital sign, the features will be shared on the City of P.A.’s social media accounts.

The project received rave reviews from councillors, including Dawn Kilmer who thanked the group for taking the initiative to promote the city’s “great youth.”

“The more that we make people aware of who we are, the more Prince Albert will continue to grow to be the place that everyone wants to be,” Kilmer said.

The first profiles are expected to be released in March. Approximately 50 will be produced by the end of the year, CBYF PA said.
