Boston Pizza donates over $3,200 to Rose Garden Hospice

The local Boston Pizza has donated $3,277 towards the Rose Garden Hospice who are still planning to get shovels in the ground this year.

On Monday morning general manager of the Prince Albert restaurant Sean Dieno said they donated the money because they reach out to community ventures that are popular in the community.

“We had just heard so much about the Rose Garden Hospice going into our donation season. That’s usually around Valentine’s Day when we do a bunch of fundraising and stuff for our Future Prospects charity,” he said. “And it was just a no brainer to jump on board with them and help them out.”

According to Dieno, the Boston Pizza Foundation Future Prospects charity helps each franchisee pick a charity or initiative to donate to.

He said 100 per cent of the money donated is from the Prince Albert community. The money raised comes from the heart-shaped fundraiser during January and February to celebrate Valentine’s Day and all the proceeds go back into the Future Prospects charity. Dieno said this particular donation was from their 2020 fundraising. They donate a dollar from every dessert and heart-shaped pizza sold during that time.

“We’ve been doing heart shaped pizza’s for years and I don’t think there’s ever been such a thing as a slow Valentine’s Day for a restaurant industry,” he said.

The Hospice is currently at $2.6 million of their $4 million goal.
