P.A. residents challenged to get active and help city win $10,000 prize

Feb 16, 2021 | 5:36 PM

The City of Prince Albert is urging participation from residents in a 10-day activity challenge with a big potential pay-off.

The community that logs the most minutes of physical activity during the 2021 Saskatchewan Blue Cross Go Out & Play Challenge will win $10,000. The competition runs from March 1 to 10.

“We need everyone to help us win,” the city said in a media release. “If you walk, ski or toboggan at Little Red River Park, work out at the Alfred Jenkins Field House or Margo Fournier Centre, swim at the Frank J. Dunn Pool, walk on the Rotary Trail or [do] any physical activity from March 1 to 10 we need you to register and record your minutes of activity daily.”

If Prince Albert wins the grand prize, the City said it will put the $10,000 towards a “Youth Fitness Circuit” consisting of a rope climb, peg bridge and under bars station to be installed at a city park this summer.

Instruction on how to participate in the challenge are below:

1. Be physically active. Don’t forget walking, active play and chores like shoveling snow!

2. Log on to the Challenge website. Create a personal or family profile starting Feb. 17.

3. Log your minutes of physical activity to add to Prince Albert’s total every day.
