Owner and manager Janine Favreau opened her doors in the midst of a blizzard on Oct. 25, 1984. It has evolved over the years from a modest bulk foods store to a trusted health-oriented natural food and alternative health location with informed and educated staff.

“Nutter’s was successful from the very first day we opened our doors for business. The support we got from the community was overwhelming,” said Favreau, who was named the female business leader of the year at the Samuel McLeod Business Awards in 2014, to which she has credited a loyal customer base.

“Our mission was to be the best bulk, natural and specialty food retailer. From the very beginning, our goal was to offer outstanding, knowledgeable customer service and quality products,” Favreau added.

Aided in this is the Nutter’s franchise commitment to grant freedom to owners to customize their locations to the match the needs of the community. This allows operators to carefully watch what is happening in the industry to remain relevant to their customer base, while also lending an opportunity to continuously bolster their own knowledge base.

This has granted Favreau and Nutter’s great business success, seen not only in their 36 years of operation but as repeat winner of Peoples Choice awards and 7-year winner of the Prince Albert Best of the Best award.
