Moe reacts to news of SHA board member spending time in California

Feb 3, 2021 | 10:10 AM

Premier Scott Moe says he is disappointed in a Saskatchewan Health Authority board member’s decision to travel to California despite COVID-19 measures in the province.

Judy Davis has been working remotely from the United States for more than two months.

The province’s minister of health, Paul Merriman, along with the Saskatchewan NDP have criticized Davis’ decision, with the NDP going so far as to ask for her dismissal from the board.

Moe said he was unaware of Davis being out of the country until 980 CJME broke the news on Monday.

“I’m disappointed that someone would take the opportunity to travel when they’re on a board, but I also respect the fact that this is a private citizen,” Moe said. “We will provide recommendations and people are free to make the decisions that they do.

“However, we have asked all of the elected members as well as the political staff that they would not travel, and that they would follow the government recommendations as they are.”

According to the SHA, no other board members have travelled out of the country since March of last year.

980 CJME has reached out to Davis multiple times for comment, but she hasn’t responded.

There isn’t any word on whether or not her decision to travel will impact her presence on the board.
