A teenage boy from Prince Albert struck by a vehicle while trying to rescue someone from the ditch, is in stable condition according to a statement by the family on social media.

The crash happened late Thursday afternoon south of Neuanlage, on highway 11. The 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital in Saskatoon by STARS Air Ambulance. The statement posted by the boy’s father, indicated his son has been seen by multiple specialists, and has two nurses in his room full-time.

The family wanted to keep the boy’s name private for the time being.

“He has multiple fractures and a badly damaged shoulder, and some other internal stuff. Doc said it will be a rough journey but he will recover. Thank God, and thank you all,” the father wrote.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. In an earlier post the father described how his son was trying to help someone out of a ditch and got hit by a car at a high rate of speed. While crouched down, hooking up the car to his truck, the boy was hit by another vehicle that lost control while passing through the area.

“I want to be angry, but I’m sure the people that lost control of the car that hit him are in a bad way tonight as well. I would be. They could use some prayers too,” the father said.
