Farming company fined after worker injured near Muenster in 2019

A local farming company has been fined after an incident near Muenster, Sask. in 2019.

K. Haeusler Farms Inc. pleaded guilty in Humboldt Provincial Court on Dec. 14 to violating two counts under the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.

The incident took place on Aug. 29, 2019 near Muenster when a worker became pinched between a skid shack and the bucket of a tracked hoe. The individual sustained serious injuries as a result.

The company has been charged with:

  • Being an employer, fail to give notice to the division as soon as reasonably possible of an accident at a place of employment that required a worker to be admitted to a hospital as an in-patient for a period of 72 hours or more.
  • Being and employer, fail to ensure, insofar as reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all the employer’s workers, resulting in the serious injury of a worker.

The charges totalled $20,000.
