COVID-19 in the north

Northern residents advised against non-essential travel outside their communities

Residents of Northern Saskatchewan are being advised to avoid non-essential travel outside of their communities to prevent the spread against COVID-19.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority issued the advisory on Friday, along with the Athabasca Health Authority and the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority for residents in the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District (NSAD).

“This strong recommendation has been prompted by increasing COVID-19 case numbers in the north, many of which are linked to travel outside the north – to areas in the south, and out-of-province,” the statement read.

Examples of essential services can be found on the Critical Public Services list available on the Government of Saskatchewan website.
