Arrests in St. Brieux in illegal firearms probe

nwnTwo men have been charged after arrests in St Brieux in relation to an illegal firearms investigation.

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, crews executed two search warrants in the town and as a result found firearms, weapons, methamphetamine, and a number of stolen items. Two men and two women were arrested without incident.

49-year-old Blake Gaillard faces a total of eleven charges. He is charged with four counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a probation order, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm when prohibited, possession of a firearm with tampered serial number, and possession of methamphetamine.

46-year-old Barkley Swenson faces a total of five charges in connection. He has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a probation order, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of methamphetamine.

Swenson was also charged in prior drug, weapons, and stolen property incidents in recent years.

The two women were released without charges.

Swenson and Gaillard both appeared in Nipawin Provincial Court on Wednesday, Dec. 9, and are set to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on Monday, Dec. 14.
