Province announces Strong Recovery Adaptation Rebate

The Government of Saskatchewan has introduced a new rebate to help businesses changing their business models to adapt to the pandemic.

According to a media release, it’s called the Strong Recovery Adaptation Rebate (SRAR) which will help businesses change business models including physical infrastructure to comply with COVID-19 guidelines, upgrading technology to create more business, and changing square footage.

“Our government continues to stand with our small business community as we work toward economic recovery, and this program is one more tool to help small businesses navigate the challenging situation we currently face,” Trade and Export Development Minister Jeremy Harrison said in the release.

The SRAR is specifically for local businesses which employ less than 100 people. It’s also for businesses that will have or had expenses from adapting to the pandemic between April 1, 2020 and Feb. 28, 2021, as well as businesses that have experienced a 30 per cent revenue decline from 2019.

Applications will be available in the near future and applicants who are eligible will receive a 50 per cent rebate to a maximum of $5,000 for a $10,000 expenditure. The amount will depend on the expenditures of the changing business models.
