International motorcycle building competition has second Prince Albert participant

A second Prince Albert motorcycle aficionado is competing in an online contest across North America to build a motorbike and achieve a dream of winning a chance to be on the show, Orange County Chopper (OCC).

Trevor Borstmayer applied for the competition multiple times and was surprised when he learned he had made it.

“I signed up three times and never got accepted,” Borstmayer told paNOW. “I didn’t even think they would accept a Canadian, but I kept trying and they finally accepted me.”

The competition is called ‘Dream Chopper’ and is organized by Orange County Choppers founder Paul Teutul Sr. The winner of the competition will receive a custom dream bike, built from scratch by Teutul, and will also be on an upcoming episode of OCC, and will receive a feature on the cover of Cycle Source Magazine.

Borstmayer is currently in round three of the competition and needs to finish in the top five of his group to move on to the next round. In round four, he will have to finish top of his group to make it to the elimination rounds.

“I have been in third and fourth so far through the first two rounds,” Borstmayer said. “I’m in fourth right now. I think I am doing good, hanging in there.

“I’ve made it way further than expected. I never thought I would make it this far to tell you the truth.”

He added the support he has received from communities around Saskatchewan has been great.

“People from P.A. and Saskatchewan are always good for that,” Borstmayer explained. “There’s a lot of people I don’t know who are voting for me, so that is awesome.”

Borstmayer said this experience for him has been like purchasing a lottery ticket.

“The best part about it is being able to dream a little bit,” Borstmayer said. “It’s like buying a lottery ticket, you don’t really think you’re going to win but it’s nice to dream about it.”

Duane Zolinski, another resident from Prince Albert is also competing in the Dream Chopper contest.

“That is awesome. Good luck to him,” Zolinski said when asked about competing against Borstmayer. “Looks like it will maybe be a P.A. battle.”

Borstmayer said the local competition is added fuel for him.

“I was surprised there was another one from P.A,” Borstmayer said. “It makes me want to get after it a little bit more. It’s pretty awesome.”

The Dream Chopper competition is also raising money for the Hudson Valley SPCA. Donations can be made through voting.
