Civic Election

Election brings two changes to P.A. city council

Nov 9, 2020 | 11:24 PM

There won’t be much change around the Prince Albert council table following Monday’s election with only two new faces coming in.

Tony Head with 302 votes defeated incumbent Evert Botha (237) and Lee Atkinson (224) in Ward 3, while Dawn Kilmer was elected in Ward 7 with 453 votes, defeating Diana Wooden (206) for the seat left vacant by Dennis Nowoselsky.

Head said he worked hard to connect with people in the Ward 3 neighbourhood.

“Just having conversations with residents I think was key, and having some fun along the way and connecting with some of the youth,” he told paNOW. “Engaging our Indigenous folks and hopefully residents heard and hopefully I made some impact to the neighbourhood.

“The neighbourhood has been near and dear to my heart and I look forward to representing it well… and looking forward to making some changes we can be proud of in Prince Albert.”

Kilmer reacted to her Ward 7 win.

“I just want to say that this journey has been so special, and I have learned so much,” Kilmer told paNOW. “I want to thank everyone who supported me through this process, it was definitely a team effort and I appreciate people’s faith in me.”

Kilmer is looking forward to starting council and representing her Ward.

“I am going to learn the ropes, go in there with an open mind on Monday, and start learning,” Kilmer explained. “Realistically the next little while is all about promoting people to be safe and follow the rules and hope people are willing to make the small sacrifices that will help us through this pandemic, so we can all move forward together.”

In Wards 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6, Charlene Miller, Terra Lennox Zepp, Don Cody, Dennis Ogrodnick and Blake Edwards, were all re-elected. Ted Zurakowski was previously acclaimed in Ward 8.
