Premier Moe makes last push for Sask. Party

On the final day of the campaign before the provincial election, Saskatchewan Party leader Scott Moe visited Prince Albert to show his support one last time for the party’s local candidates: Joe Hargrave running in Prince Albert-Carlton, and Alana Ross in the Prince Albert-Northcote race.

Moe said in the days of COVID-19, there needs to be a government to assist in the recovery of the economy and said his government has passed the test so far.

“That recovery is already underway. We have the lowest unemployment rate in the nation, we allowed more people to work in some way, shape, or form throughout this pandemic,” Moe said. “We reopened our economy, our communities, our schools safely and as swiftly as anywhere in the nation and we’re very proud of not what we have done, but what Saskatchewan people have done.”

Moe also addressed the Sask. Party’s $300 million plan to renew and expand the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital, along with 69 more acute care beds, a larger emergency area, and a new mental health treatment area.

He fired back at his opponent and NDP leader Ryan Meili who visited Prince Albert last Saturday and promised to build mental health emergency rooms in Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Regina, and Moose Jaw, as well as building a brand new hospital in Prince Albert.

“He has $4 billion in uncosted spending, reckless uncosted spending in his platform, and nowhere in there are any of the commitments that he made here in Prince Albert, which doesn’t make them real,” Moe said. “And he should be asked the question ‘How is he going to pay for the things that he has put forward that he wants to spend on behalf of this community?’” Moe said. “They’re not real promises. They are pie-in-the-sky ideas that have ran through his head.”

In his last push to sway voters to vote for the Saskatchewan Party, Moe left voters with a question.

“Who do you trust to recover the economy in the province of Saskatchewan? We have been faced with a year unlike any other year that we have faced,” Moe said. “We have a generation now that has been asked to do something more than we have ever been asked in addressing and stopping the spread of COVID-19. We are doing so. We are reopening our economy and we need to recover the economy.”
