Local talent headlines opening week for fall season at the Rawlinson

In an effort to reopen the arts and entertainment industry, the EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts will have live performances this week, starting Thursday night.

They are not sold out yet, but tickets are becoming limited as the dates draw closer.

“Tickets are starting to get scarce. We’re doing really well on both shows,” Cara Stelmaschuk, events coordinator at the Rawlinson Centre, told paNOW.

Due to COVID restrictions they are allowed to sell 150 tickets per show. The concerts are just around the corner and they have sold about 100 tickets for both Thursday and Saturday’s events.

The Rawlinson will be livestreaming Thursday nights performance by Wade Fehr to their website. The link for the livestream can be found under ‘shows’ and ‘Wade Fehr’. Tickets can be purchased until showtime.

Fehr will debut a new album to fans Thursday night. Of Ghosts and Graveyards is a Halloween-themed album that will be on sale during the show.

Despite not playing in front of a live audience for over half a year due to the pandemic, Fehr has not taken a break from producing new music and refining his skills.

“This year, for me and for most I’m guessing was a writing and rediscovering period to work on our skills and work on new songs,” Fehr said. “Not being able to be out there playing shows, it’s been about working on everything that goes on behind the scenes.”

Headlining the opening show himself, Fehr is looking forward to playing once more.

“Having the whole night to myself, I’m nervous about making sure everything is prepared for my music, but I’m very excited,” Fehr said.

“As it comes closer, I’m feeling more prepared and therefore a little more relaxed.”

After Thursday, another big night for fans to look forward to is Saturday, Oct. 24. The first weekend show will be a night of acoustics from Chris Henderson, Jack Semple, and Munro & Patrick.

“With it being a celebration of Saskatchewan artists, we are going to be doing about 90 per cent of our own material, Heidi Munro of Munro & Patrick said to paNOW.

“Jack [Semple] and Chris [Henderson] are really excited for this. We’re all going to get together for a couple of group songs.”

After the long, unanticipated break for the arts, Munro is happy to have an opportunity to play in front of fans in P.A. again.

“The Rawlinson treats us very well, it’s like going home,” Munro said. “It feels really good, and I’m very excited.”

Munro added what she is most looking forward to are the emotions that come from performing a live show.

“To see people in that setting, to see them smiling, and hear our voices and the instruments in the building, it’s the most beautiful feeling,” Munro said. “To see each other on stage, and really appreciate each other as music friends and colleagues, I’m really looking forward to all the feelings.”
