Oct 19, 2020 | 2:00 PM

September was a frustrating month for home and business owners in Prince Albert, based on the latest statistics from the city’s police service.

There was a big spike in area of break and enters, specifically with relation to garages, sheds, and commercial businesses.

There were 28 businesses targeted last month, compared to 11 in September, 2019.

Residential outbuildings accounted for 22 incident reports last month.

Year-to-date there have been 121 related incidents which is still well below the 198 seen at this time last year.

Other highlights from the September stats

Overall, members of the police service remain very busy and have responded to over 4,000 more calls than they did at this time last year.

This represents a 14.3 per cent increase.

Disturbances, evictions, and public intoxications account for over 30 per cent of the calls; while suspicious incidents and family disputes are at five per cent and theft under $5,000 sits at two per cent.

As of Sept. 30, there have been 97 COVID compliance complaints, but no charges laid.

While there has been no actual complaints since June, there were nine complaints related to businesses not complying, and 49 complaints related to group gatherings.
