Premier Moe makes third stop in Prince Albert ahead of election

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe made his third visit to Prince Albert during his election campaign on Saturday, and said the city’s economic success is important to the province’s growth.

“A growing economy here in Prince Albert and throughout the province will ensure that we have the resources to build strong communities and support strong families,” Moe said in a statement. “The growth we have enjoyed over the past few years has allowed our Saskatchewan Party government to make significant investments in Prince Albert and across Saskatchewan.”

Moe outlined some of the key investments the Saskatchewan Party government has made in Prince Albert since 2007. They include:

· $300 million to renew and expand Victoria Hospital. The new hospital will have 40 per cent more acute care beds, a new treatment area for adults in need of mental health care, a larger emergency department, a new helipad and enhanced medical imaging services including an MRI;

· A $20 million contribution to the construction of the city’s new Aquatic and Arenas Recreation Centre;

· $40 million for capital projects in the educational sector;

· $45 million to support the development of more than 400 new rental and homeowner units and the repair of another 420 homes in the city;

· Funding for more than 500 new child care spaces;

· More than $5 million under the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program to support the economic recovery, funding that support a range of projects including an expansion of the playground at the Alfred Jenkins Field House.

Moe said the Saskatchewan Party’s Plan for a Strong Saskatchewan also includes a number of new commitments for Saskatchewan families. These include:

· The Active Families Benefit, which provides $150 per child per year to help with the cost of sports and other activities;

· 750 more childcare spaces;

· Expanded individualized funding for children for autism;

· Covering the cost of Continuous Glucose Monitoring systems for children under 18;

· Saving families up to $2100 on the cost of home renovations through a new Home Renovation Tax Credit; and

· Saving every family money by cutting their power bill by 10 per cent for one year.

“The Saskatchewan Party has a plan for a strong recovery that will make life more affordable for families here in Prince Albert and all over Saskatchewan,” Moe said. “A strong economy, strong communities, strong families – that’s our plan for a strong Saskatchewan.”
