A classroom at École St. Anne School impacted by a positive case of COVID-19 is now being required to isolate and will continue to do so until Oct. 22.

Prince Albert Catholic School Division Director of Education Lorel Trumier issued a news release Sunday evening after the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) confirmed the case.

Trumier said communication has been shared with the specific classroom/cohort, as well as the school community.

“The SHA is completing their assessment of the situation, and all individuals deemed to be close contacts have been communicated with. We want to reassure families of École St. Anne School that school will resume October 13 for in-person classes while maintaining the safety protocols that are in place,” the release read.

To protect privacy, the school division said it is not able to share or discuss details but the release did say the case being investigated is linked to an outbreak within Prince Albert. It is not school acquired.

The affected class will begin online learning while in isolation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with this member of our school community, and we hope they are doing well. We all have a shared responsibility to decrease the risk of COVID-19 entering schools,” said Trumier.
