A 27-year-old man received an eight-year prison sentence for his role in a 2017 murder in Prince Albert.

Lenny Daniels, who pled to a charge of manslaughter, was one of four people charged in the death of Duane Brett Ledoux. The incident was gang-related according to evidence heard in court.

While Daniels was originally charged with first-degree murder, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge at a separate court hearing on Sept. 30. The sentence hearing was held Wednesday morning at Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench.

On Aug. 16, 2017, Duane Ledoux’s body was found inside a home in the city in the 800 block of 17th St. W.

Daniels was given total credit for 492 days spent in remand, so has roughly six and a half years remaining to serve. He must also provide a DNA sample and is prohibited from owning or using a firearm for life.

Two of the co-accused Boden Umpherville and William Chaboyer were sentenced last April, and each received a three-year prison sentence.

Marissa Bird is scheduled to face trial in February 2021.
