Controlled Flares

SaskEnergy conducting controlled flares near Wakaw and St. Louis

Sep 21, 2020 | 5:21 PM

SaskEnergy is set to do a pair of controlled natural gas flares in the area on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m., at the SaskEnergy compressor station near St. Louis and at a point on the natural gas system west of Wakaw. The flares are necessary for the crown corporation to do maintenance on the lines.

Natural gas will be released from the compressor station near St. Louis, and the block valve near Wakaw. The lines can be isolated from the rest of the system, so there will be no disruption to natural gas services in the area.

Residents in the area may notice a 20-foot flare coming from the stacks that are temporarily attached to the infrastructure at each location.
