Suspect on the run after foiled robbery attempt

Sep 17, 2020 | 4:12 PM

Perhaps it was because he could not see what he was doing, or maybe he just had second thoughts, but a man wearing orange goggles and a face mask left a store in the west flat empty handed.

The incident Tuesday night is being investigated by police as an attempted armed robbery.

The business is located in the 1600 block of 15th St. W. The suspect attempted to steal money but ended up running from the store, police say. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Meanwhile a 20-year-old man is facing three counts of theft under $5,000 in connection to a separate incident Tuesday night.

Just before midnight, police were called to a residence on Pereverzoff Place for a complaint of a theft from a motor vehicle.

A male, matching the complainant’s description of the suspect, attempted to flee but was apprehended by police. The 20-year-old man has been scheduled to make his next court appearance Sept. 30.
